What We Do…

Books For Kids supports the national program –
The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

The Program promotes improvement in the reading levels of students. Our Goal is to reach out to the boys and girls in their early years.

Our Efforts To Support This Program Include:

  • Volunteers – Books For Kids now has over 125 people working on the Books For Kids Program
  • Mentoring & Tutoring
  • Book Distribution

Book Donations…

Books For Kids has given over 50,000 books to young
children in our community and continues to distribute
over 2500 books a month. This school year, over 17,000
books will be distributed.

Read Aloud…

Our community volunteers are professionally trained to go
into schools, read to the children and engage students in a
book discussion which fosters:

  • reading & listening comprehension skills
  • critical thinking skills
  • character development
  • career education
  • a love of reading & love of books

Following the reading, the students are given gift, a gift that
we all take for granted, a gift that is in our homes but not
necessarily in their homes and that is a gift of a book. This
book is brought home so that the children could begin to
build their own home libraries.

“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” — Walt Disney

We Strive To Transfer The Love of Reading
From Our Volunteers To Every Child
And Show Them That We CARE!

We Can Always Use Your Help With A Donation of Any Size Or You Can Also Help Out By
Being A Volunteer!
