  • 20% of the adult population in Florida is functionally illiterate.
  • The United States Department of Labor, estimates literacy problems cost the U.S. business about $225 billion a year in lost productivity.
  • 1.1 Million students drop out of school each year costing this country $250 billion.

Child at bookshelfWe know that in middle income neighborhoods, the ratio of books to children is 13 books for every child. In low income neighborhoods, the ratio is one age appropriate book for 300 children. So the need becomes urgent

In 18 months, Florida Books For Kids has distributed more than 8700 books to boys and girls. These books are treasured and allow these children to begin to build their libraries at home.

Books for Kids is a program of the Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch and is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Your donation is tax deductible.
